Green Velvet Boxwood is a dense multi-stemmed evergreen shrub with rounded shape, and forest green foliage. It will grow to be about 1m tall at maturity, with a spread of 1m. It is a good choice for attracting bees to your yard, but is not particularly attractive to deer who tend to leave it alone. The small round leaves do not develop any fall colour.

This shrub does best in full sun to partial shade. It prefers to grow in average to moist conditions, and shouldn't be allowed to dry out. It grows at a slow rate, and under optimal conditions can be expected to live for approximately 30 years. It tends to fill out right to the ground and therefore doesn't require facer plants. This broadleaf evergreen is used for topiary and makes a great low hedge.

Helpful Care Instructions:

If you wish to define and maintain a clean shape, the Green Velvet Boxwood should be pruned once or twice a season. Pruning is very simple and can be performed both spring and fall. With a pruner simply clip away any branches that stand out from the desired shape. VanDongen's Youtube page also features how to videos on the subject.
